Week of Tea Reviews Day 1 | Paromi Tea Box | Part 1 of 3

Subscription Boxes are very intriguing to me, especially when they are tea-based subscription boxes. I really look for a couple of things when picking out tea and the same “rules” apply no matter how it gets to me. I look for sturdy packaging (packaging that is not leaking the tea aromas right away). I always look at the ingredients so I know what I am getting myself into. And after preparing the tea, I can tell if the tea is fresh and not stale. In Paromi Tea’s case, they sent me their just-launched subscription box for me to review. So I did not necessarily know what was in the teas or the packaging, but let me tell you….I was so impressed with their tea.

Also….today is day one of the Week of Tea Reviews. Don’t forget that I also have a GIVEAWAY going on with Red Root Shop right now! To enter, you can go on Instagram and enter there (rules on the giveaway post), but if you do not have Instagram (or want extra entries) you can enter by commenting on this post and every post on this blog this week for 10 entries! A comment equals 2 entries! Good Luck!

Analyzation of the Teas:

Citrus Delight: There is something about this tea that just refreshed me instantly. I ended up making this iced and took it to go. I could really taste the orange, lemon, and spearmint as the prominent flavors. I think this is what contributed to that refreshing taste. This tea also tasted so fresh and natural. I could tell right away from just smelling the tea straight from the bag. Paromi’s website states that this tea has balanced, light tannins with bright fresh citrus tones and savory rosemary on the finish. I had a bit more difficulty tasting the rosemary and I am unsure if it comes out more when the tea is prepared hot rather than cold. All in all, this tea was refreshing, delicate, and beautifully blended. I also need to comment that this tea has organic ingredients including organic flavoring like lemon and lime which made me very happy.

Ingredients: Organic Rosemary, Organic White Tea, Organic Green Tea, Organic Spearmint, Organic Blackberry Leaves, Natural Lemon Flavor, Organic Lemon Wedges, Organic Marigold Blossoms, Natural Lime Flavor, Natural Cream Flavor

Botanical Garden: I think these teas just have such a natural and organic feel to them. I could really smell the lavender and marigold when brewing this tea. Also possibly a taste of rosehip. Like the other teas, it left me super relaxed and calm. As I went further into my tea, I could taste a slight sweetness on the top of my mouth which I think must be the apple bits. The peppermint seemed to enhance the flavors of the lavender, marigold, and rosehip. According to Paromi, this tea is ” flowery and herbaceous with a hint of mint”. I agree with their analysis and I really could imagine drinking this while walking or reading in a garden (So this tea is aptly named).

Ingredients: Apple Bits, Hazelnut Leaves, Lavender Flowers, Sunflower Blossom, Rose Hip Husks, Rose Petals, Mallow Blossom, Marigold Blossom, Peppermint

Mrs. Bucho: Wow, this tea smelled fantastic and slightly familiar when I opened the bag. Once I put in the water and tasted the tea, the Lemon-Myrtle was the taste that really was the most prominent in the tea. I, personally, could not really taste the black tea that much. When swallowing I could taste a slight tinge of black tea. It is definitely a more herby tasting tea, but with slight lemon and rose tastes which made the entire tea very well blended. I couldn’t help but think it tasted also like my personal garden and especially the myrtle that grows and spreads everywhere. According to Paromi, this tea has tasting notes of “round full tannins and floral notes with a peppermint-like finish.”  I do not know if I agree as much with this sine I think the black tea taste was more hidden with the Lemon-Myrtle and lavender coming through more.

Ingredients: Organic Black Tea, Organic Lemon-Myrtle, Organic Cocoa Shells, Organic Bucho Leaves, Organic Lavender Flowers, Organic Rose Petals

Moringa Glory: This tea is very interesting as well, but 100% in a good way. The aroma of the tea itself is fairly sweet-smelling, but I can especially smell the apple and mango flavor the most. I really loved how relaxed the tea made me. All of these teas really helped me feel relaxes and transported me to a different place (mostly a garden). It was very pleasant and with a tiny natural sweetness, was quite enjoyable to drink. There were many ingredients in this tea that I had never heard of, namely Sea Buckthorn Peels and Moringa Leaves. So I was unsure what exactly I should be tasting. I have seen a few teas with moringa leaves, but the exact taste still evades me. Paromi states that the tea is fresh with soft citrus notes and a light effervescence. This tea definitely has a particular spunk and I agree with their analysis.

Ingredients: Organic Apple Bits, Organic Sea Buckthorn Peels, Organic Moringa Leaves, Organic Lemongrass, Natural Mango Flavor, Natural Sea Buckthorn Flavor

Analyzation of the Price:

This particular subscription box is $30 for a one time purchase or $25 if a recurring order. Honestly, that is not a bad deal at all for quality, organic tea. Each tea comes out to about $7.50 for 1 ounce of tea. Their estimate is about 36 cups of tea, but I am pretty sure that with double steeping I will be able to get more. \

Analyzation of the Packaging:

The box that the tea came in was a normal brown shipping box, but the teas were tucked inside wrapped in black tissue paper. I love the look of the tea packages (my friends thought they were adorable too), especially the bright colors on the packaging. They seemed like fairly well quality with no discernable scent before opening.

I hope you enjoyed Day 1 of tea reviews! Let me know your thoughts and comment down below (and join the giveaway)! Happy Brewing!

  1. Love this website! I ordered this Ginger Tea in the giveaway, which was incredible! The tea helps me sleep at night, as well as, provide health benefits with the pieces of ginger and red dates. Tastes fresh and spicy!

  2. As someone who “lives off the land”, I’m currently working on harvesting ingredients for my own teas. Do you have any recommendations for a licorice root based tea? I have sweet mint leaves, spearmint leaves, dehydrated blackberries and sassafras root.

Also, thank you for the chance at the giveaway! My Instagram name is @lucidnightwatcher

    1. Hi Thank you for entering into the giveaway! I do not know as many recipes for licorice based tea, but I have heard of many licorice and mint tea combinations that are supposedly very refreshing and tasty. I have yet to try it. Ginger and licorice is also a good combination.

  3. I love reading about all these delicious teas. Out of the four that you tested did you have a favorite? Can any of these teas be bought individually or only in a subscription box?
