Minimal Matcha Review + Recipe

Minimal Matcha Review + Recipe

I love cooking with tea. I love drinking new tea. And I love tea. Period. So when I get a chance to try a new tea and then figure out a new recipe for it, I am very excited. Minimal Matcha is a tea company (Specifically matcha) that really believes that the ceremony of matcha can be involved in everyone’s life, no matter how busy. They sent me their Monday – Ceremonial Matcha for me to review. As I have recently reviewed a different brand of matcha, I was extremely excited to see how this one faired!

Monday – Ceremonial Matcha: This matcha was bolder and definitely more creamy than other matchas that I have tried. The vegetal taste was a bit more prominent and strong than I usually prefer, but it still had a rounded taste which made me like the matcha. However, I think I prefer it a bit more when it was combined in a recipe rather than drinking it on its own. I managed to make a matcha latte with this, and it was absolutely fantastic. The perfect mix of sweet honey with a nice slightly vegetal taste to finish. The color of the matcha was a nice green but actually brewed a dark green. I was quite shocked at the color, but it did match the bold, earthy taste of the matcha.

But I did not let my matcha experimentation stop there! Since this Matcha had great mixing properties, I decided to make up a recipe to further test out this matcha! So here is my recipe for a Matcha Protein Shake! (I absolutely loved this and have had it two more times since).

  • 2 scoops Peanut Butter
  • 2 scoops Chocolate Protein Powder (I used Orgain brand)
  • 1 cup non-lactose milk
  • 2 tsp Monday – Ceremonial Matcha
  • 2 scoops non-lactose vanilla ice cream

The instructions are super easy, combine all ingredients (I find that adding the wet ingredients then the dry ingredients is the best method). Then blend until smooth!

I thought this was an awesome way to start your day or the perfect drink before or after a workout! The energizing effect of the matcha would help you get energy after a grueling workout, and this recipe has almost 40 grams of protein!

Analyzation of the Price:

This tea is $27 for the Monday- Ceremonial Matcha, but currently on sale for $23 (at time of writing). I think for quality matcha, most people are prepared to pay a larger amount. If you want cheaper matcha, you will get cheap matcha. So, you really are paying for the quality and this tea is definitely quality matcha. Therefore, I think the price is fair.

Analyzation of the Packaging:

I love the look of this matcha. The glass jar is beautiful and when I am finished with the matcha, I could find so many uses for this jar! It also seems very air-tight and will definitely keep the tea nice and fresh! Their logo is so simple, making the packaging also very simple. It just has a great sleek look and will have many uses for years to come.

There we are! I love experimenting with Matcha and figuring out different ways to incorporate it into my diet! How do you like your matcha? Leave a comment below! Happy brewing!
