Holistic Remedies: Tuthi Tea | Helping my Teeth

Tuthi Tea came from a Dentist and Entrepreneur duo, Iya and Eugene. Iya actually had been working on secret tea blends that attribute themselves directly to oral health after wanting to stop coffee consumption. Thus, Tuthi was born. This tea intrigued me from first look to the first sip. A tea that is curated for the special purpose of helping your gums and teeth. I have been having gum issues for the last year and have been looking for more ways to step up my oral health.

Analyzation of the Tea: Restore

This tea was quite flavorful and lovely to drink. Most importantly, it actually left my mouth feeling fresh. I could mostly taste the ginger, chamomile, and lemongrass with little bursts of peppermint. The ginger added a slight spiciness to the tea, while the lemongrass and the apple pieces added a nice balance of sweetness. There was so much going on in this tea, that I felt overwhelmed by the tastes.

Recently, I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in my mouth. Due to that, I cannot always brush my teeth as completely as I want to. It’s been an adjustment. This tea has been helpful by providing a clean feeling in my mouth that I normally can do with brushing, but recently have not really been able to fully achieve. Honestly, this tea was a bit of a game-changer and contributed heavily to me coping with this diagnosis. Also, it is way more natural at helping my inflammation than steroids and chemicals, which I really love.

Tuthi’s Science Claim?

Fresh ginger contains some pretty powerful compounds, including gingerol. Gingerol is a substance that has very powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, when ginger is dried for tea, it goes through a dehydration reaction which transforms gingerol into shogoal. This reaction doubles the flavor and retains all the wonderful, health boosting benefits ginger has to offer.

Analyzation of the Price Tag + Branding:

The price is $29.95 for 28 individual teabags. The calculates to $1.07 per cup of tea. Especially for me, this is a no brainer and is worth the price, especially with all of the research and good ingredients. Also, Tuthi donates 10% from each purchase to a Smile in Need, which is a great way of giving back! They also are currently offering a free tumbler with a purchase when you sign up with your email. The branding of this company was so cool. The box was completely covered in their logo and bright colors, which was beautiful and great marketing! The pouch that the tea comes in seems to be very airtight and good for tea storage.

How does tea actually help my teeth?

Some people think of stained teeth when they think of tea and the impact it has on your teeth. However, based on the ingredients above and other research, I really think tea can play a positive part in your oral health. There are studies which go into how drinking tea could potentially prevent tooth decay. Green tea helps control bad bacteria in your mouth and can potentially prevent oral cancer! Tuthi specially formulated their teas with all ingredients that would help your mouth, but you can also find ways of helping your teeth in your normal morning cup! I will, however, warn against adding addative like sugar or cream to your cup if you are simply doing it for oral health. Those addatives still promote cavaties even if they are in the tea.

Well, there is the second post of this holistic healing series! The next post comes on Sunday! I really hope you enjoy this series and hopefully learn something new!
