There are many motivators for drinking tea. Taste. Health Benefits. Trying to cut down on sugar. You take your pick. I simply love the drink and the health benefits are a great bonus to drinking my daily cup. Herbie Wellness is a small tea company that focuses on the benefits that drinking tea can bring to consumers and bringing a wholly organic and fairly acquired experience to those drinking their tea. They sent me two samples of their teas: Cup of Sunshine and Goodbye Stress, Hello Energy. I absolutely love the name of the second one and I was immediately hoping that this tea would just melt my stress away. Scroll down further for my thoughts.
Analyzation of the Teas:
Cup of Sunshine: For the first time trying this tea, I noticed an odd scent lingering behind the tea. My mom tasted spearmint and thought it tasted quite refreshing. There was a pleasant after-feeling of the tea, kind of refreshing. But I was quite confused with what the off scent was based on the ingredients in the tea. The second time trying was quite different and was much more fulfilling. I noticed more a more minty aroma when steeping and even the taste had more mint notes than the first time trying the tea. I really enjoyed the second cup more than my first experience, so I was very glad that I gave this tea another chance. It really was a calming tea with small hints of sweetness and mintiness.
Ingredients: Organic Spearmint, Organic Calendula, Organic Chamomile, Organic Rose, Organic Orange Peel
Goodbye Stress, Hello Energy: This tea surprised me. A total 180. The aroma of this tea is not my favorite as it was a fruity, sort of dusty-like aroma and was kind of sharp on the senses. However, with that said, the taste was a total difference. There was a sharp sweetness to the tea, which I could tell right away that it was due to the combination of the hibiscus and licorice. The licorice created a super sweet feeling in my throat, which could be slightly off-putting for some people, but I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the aroma and taste. I do think, though, that the aroma is half of the tea-drinking experience, and some people might have different thoughts on this tea. This tea was quite intriguing to me, and I was very excited the next time that I brewed it and had quite a similar experience.
Ingredients: Organic Hibiscus, Organic Ashwagandha, Organic Chaga, Organic Rosehips, Organic Peppermint, Organic Dandelion, Organic Licorice
Analyzation of the Pricing:
Cup of Sunshine is priced at $8 for 2 ounces of fresh, made-to-order tea. Goodbye Stress, Hello Energy was priced at $5 for 1 ounce of tea. Honestly, I think they could be charging more for their tea. I have sold a few things off of Etsy before, and the charges are always more than expected when the business sells a product. Also, Organic and Fair-trade ingredients have to cost a bit more based on their soucing, which should drive up pricing. Needless to say, I think it is a great price for the quality of tea that the consumer is receiving and that the company could increase costs further.
Analyzation of the Packaging:
No complaints on the packaging from me! I have always loved the way that tea looks with the packaging of a clear panel and brown paper pouch. The tea is visible, and it makes me more excited to try out the tea. I did not notice any tea aromas leaking from the bag, so I will keep the teas in the original pouches until I finish them off.
One of the (many) reasons I love loose leaf tea is due to the ever-changing ability of it. Sometimes I am still surprised by how much the tea can change just based on getting a few more minuscule pieces of tea. Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying the new year and has wonderful New Years Resolutions! Happy Brewing!
