Paromi Box | They’ve Done it Again

Paromi Box | They’ve Done it Again

It is always a happy day when there is tea in my mailbox waiting for me. For five months, I have received tea from Paromi Tea in the mail and am extremely grateful for it. I have really only had one other subscription box tea service experience before, to which I was disappointed by their quality and lack of freshness. However, I have noticed that it is extremely different with Paromi. While other subscription boxes gave me stale tea, Paromi has provided me with quite a fresh variety. They sent me December’s Subscription box which included: Nutmeg Chai, Chocolate Peppermint, Blue Bou Voo, and Passion Fruit Spice. Here were my thoughts:

Nutmeg Chai: This tea reminded me a lot of the pumpkin spice in relation to quality and strength. There was a slight drying of my mouth with each tea, so some astringency, but it was rather smooth to drink. This chai was quite spicy and immediately I knew that this tea would also be amazing with cream or almond milk in it. I think it would have just added a little extra to the tea. There was a subtle sweetness to the tea, which came out more as it cooled down. I made a large pot for my mom and I to drink, and we both liked the unique taste it provided. It is different than most chai teas that I usually drink and was a welcomed change in taste.

Ingredients: Organic Black Tea, Organic Ginger, Organic Carrot Flakes, Organic Cardamom, Organic Cloves, Organic Black Pepper, Organic Cinnamon Ground, Organic Ground Nutmeg, Natural Tonka Bean Flavor, Natural Cinnamon Flavor, Natural Vanilla Flavor

Chocolate Peppermint: The aroma of this tea is very chocolatey with a feeling of mint pass through my nose. It really seemed like the perfect mix of both ingredients. The actual taste of this tea was quite mild but tasted exactly like the aroma. There was a refreshing and cooler feeling in my mouth after each sip. It honestly felt so cool. The chocolate notes were quite subtle and coated the top of my mouth. The mint mostly lingered on my tongue and near the back of my throat. It was very complex and simple at the same time, due to only having two ingredients.

Blue Bou Voo: I really enjoyed this tea, so much so that I have already finished the entire bag before the posting of this review. This was also the first Butterfly Pea Blossom Tea that turned actual blue instead of purple. The aroma was a creamy vanilla scent to the tea which really invited me into trying the tea. There was a complex texture to this tea that embodied vanilla to me (like the feeling of vanilla almost?) and being somewhat creamy. I could also pick up on possibly some buttery notes as it did feel as if it was coating my mouth in its flavors. I keep laughing at the picture I took of this tea, mostly because I had to flash the light behind the tea because there was no way that my camera was picking up on the beautiful blue color that this tea had.

Passion Fruit Spice: This tea had quite a nice pale yellow color to it, with an aroma of orange spice and floral notes. It set quite a high expectation for this tea based on aroma alone. I was surprised that it did not taste like a green tea but has a tea-like quality and feeling to it. The aroma is quite a bit stronger than the taste, but it paired quite well. There is a floral taste lingering in my mouth after drinking and the tea is aerating in the back as I am swallowing, allowing me to taste more fruity flavors. I was quite intrigued by the ingredient list, mostly because I would not have even guessed that there was black pepper in this tea.

Analyzation of the Price

This subscription box is $30 for a one time purchase or $25 if a recurring order. Honestly, that is not a bad deal at all for quality, organic tea. Each tea comes out to about $7.50 for 1 ounce of tea. Their estimate is about 36 cups of tea, but I am pretty sure that with double steeping I will be able to get more. I think that is a good price on the box, especially with the quality of the tea that you receive.

I think I am starting to show bias in these reviews, just because of how much experience I have with this brand. I would highly recommend them just based on quality and blends alone. I hope you all are enjoying your Friday and Happy Brewing!
