Strawberry Matcha Latte | Recipe

Many times I have gone on Pinterest, seen some insane looking concoction, and then said: “I can totally do that”. Many times it is wishful thinking, but not this time. I decided to actually attempt my own version of a strawberry-based matcha latte. I surprised myself with how it came out. I used Pinterest as a guide for the look, but this is totally my own way of making this recipe and it is college student approved because it can be easily made using the microwave.

Here are the Ingredients I Used:

  • 3 whole Strawberries
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 cup Almond Milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp Matcha (I used Ceremonial Grade from Kuya Tea Company)

This is fairly simple and I really just went with my gut for most of the creation process. I started by cutting the strawberries in half, drizzling on honey, and putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds. After they were warm and mushy, I used two forks to start tearing apart the strawberries and get them into a safer form for my drink. I then focused on the second layer: almond milk. Using my mini pitcher, I put in about 1/2 a cup of almond milk with a small bit of honey and put it in the microwave for a minute. Using an electric frother, I combined the warm milk and honey into a frothy light mixture. And then for the final layer, matcha, I prepared it as I normally do. Put the matcha through a sifter and use a small amount of water to make a paste with the bamboo whisk. Then, add a tiny bit more water and fully whisk making the nice bubbles on top.

Here is how it looks totally mixed!

The final portion is combining your ingredients. If you do not care about the presentation, just combine everything into a glass and enjoy it. If you want to attempt a layered look, first put the strawberry mixture. Using a spoon as a divider (as shown in the video), pour the almond milk onto the spoon creating a small division in color. Spoon out the froth on top. Finally, add matcha again using the spoon as a divider. The colors should be mostly separated like the picture on the top of this article! Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this small recipe! I realized lately that I make a lot of content specifically for Instagram and that I should also be posting it on my blog so people can see it later if needed! Let me know if you have ever tried this or tried something similar. Happy Brewing!
