Cheerio | The Unofficial Mascot of Tea&Me

On Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 at 6:38 pm, I lost my sweet cat, Cheerio. While this may seem quite minor all things considered, she was the one who was with me through many rough patches in the last 11 years. Cats have an irreplaceable impact on the lives of their owners. Some may call them a best friend, a consult, or even a baby of sorts. Cheerio was my fur-baby (although I hate calling her that because she was so much more to me) and she really lived life to the fullest before and especially during the quarantine.

There are so many memories that I have of her that string along with my tea blog. She had this innate curiosity. Any time I would have a tea delivery, she would be opening up boxes with me, examining and sniffing the packaging, and then, of course, getting into the boxes. She always wanted to know what was going on and be a small part of it. Another way she would get involved was when I would make tea of any kind and walk to the couch or my room. She would follow me around, thinking that the tea was for her and that I was playing a bit of a game with her, meowing the whole way. If I set down my tea or my tea container, she would always come and sniff it, just to see what had my attention.

I once made a catnip tea for her, thinking she would love it. Needless to say, she really could not have cared less, drinking a little bit and then walking off. I made this for her a couple of times with no success. She was quirky and weird, and I loved her all the more for it.

I would feature her all the time in pictures on my blog and on my social media, so much that she really became a small mascot of my tea blog. I continue to miss her, and I have immense joy in the fact that she will continue to live on in my memories, photos, and on my blog.

I am currently on a small break from posting, besides this post, but I do hope to return soon when I feel emotionally ready. Happy Brewing!o!

  1. She was a lovely kitty, since she usually made herself scarce when we were visiting it’s nice to know more about her personality. Cheerio seems like a sweet and faithful companion, and I’m glad you shared these moments of curiosity together.. I’m so sorry for your lost and know the ache you feel as you miss her.
